Improve your IELTS vocabulary score (speaking & writing)!
A band 7 or 8 requires a wide range of vocabulary, including precise vocabulary and less common expressions. Your more refined use of English vocabulary is closely related to your studies in grammar, logic, and style with us.
More precise and academic vocabulary will boost your writing and speaking scores. You will impress the reader and examiner with less common and varied, carefully-chosen words.
Here’s a tip on how to improve: Instead of using the word “people”, be more specific. People in a restaurant, for example, are … diners. People who drive cars are … drivers or, in British English, motorists. Use the following words in your essays and spoken presentations instead of “people”: hikers, taxpayers, voters, locals, cyclists, consumers, activists, internet surfers…
We will also work on collocations. This includes maximizing the use of an Online Collocation Dictionary. Finally, check out the Academic Word List.
